Hexbound Blog Touring Stopping Here Today

I'm so very excited to host today's stop on the Hexbound Blog Tour.  I absolutely loved Firespell - it was actually one of the first books I read on my Nook.  I read it while traveling across South Dakota, and it really made the miles pass.

Before we get to the interview with Chloe Neill let's look a little at Hexbound.

Ok - I was able to ask Chloe a few questions.  Here's what she had to say:

1.  How long did take you to write the book?  Did you have to revise much?

It takes me 3-4 months to write each book (depending on their length), and there's usually three to four months of editing after that. Penguin uses a four-stage editing process, so it takes some time to complete.

2.  Have you always wanted to write?  Did you write a lot when you were young and in school?

I didn't want to write at all until a few years ago. I hated writing--and was very intimidated by it. But then I had a couple of jobs and some college which required me to write a lot. I learned by practicing and by reading a lot.

3.  Did you base this book on anyone/thing from real life?  What one idea sparked it?

Neither my Dark Elite books nor my Chicagoland Vampire books are based on real life per se, although I do write down interesting comments and ideas as I come upon them in "real life." My books are usually mixes of stuff that I run across.

4.  And since this is The O.W.L. Whoooooo is/are the author(s) you look up to - ones that inspire you?

I LOVE Neil Gaiman, Diana Gabaldon and J.D. Robb. I think they all write great characters and have fascinating ideas and use of detail in their works.

That fact that she didn't start writing until later gives me hope, since I'm really just started getting into my writing.
