End-of-the-Year Read-a-thon!!

I'm going to try another read-a-thon.  It seems that every time I try I get sick or a migraine, but I really want to participate so I'm going to try again!!

Ok so I really need to stop signing up for read-a-thons.  I always go into them with great intentions and then everything falls apart!!! I've only read two books :(

Dewey's Read-a-Thon Update Post

Hey all I have started the Read-a-Thon!!

I'll be using this post to update my progress.

  I won't be able to read for the next 24 hours straight, but I'm going to read as much as I can until noon tomorrow (yes I know that' s more than 24, but I just wnat to get a ton of reading done!)

Update 1: I am half way through We Are Not Eaten By Yaks.  Very cute book! There will be a ton of kids that I can recommend this one too!.

Update 2: I finished We Are Not Eaten.  Super cute and lots of twists and turns. After a break to take the kids to the pumpkin patch, I'm now reading Tempted (House of the Night).  This series is my ultimate guilty pleasure.  My pure non-thinking just for fun reading. I've got next book in the series as well, so if I need that later in the read-a-thon I can take it out.


Update 3: Ok I finished Tempted, and I'm onto The Secret Year.  Some day when I a do a read-a-thon I'm going to lock the doors and not let anyone near me because they always pull me away from reading!  Now I did say I was going until noon today, so I have about 3 hours left.  I know it's cheating and longer than 24 hours, but hey I'm okay with that.

Final Update:  I finished The Secret Year.  Good book! But frustrating too.  Ok I'm out of time.  I only read three books, but hey that's three books I didn't have read before I started ;)  I'd like to say I'll read some more this afternoon, but I have other things I need to get done, and I'd like to spend some time writing.

So I'm Gonna Try Again: Dewey's Read-a-Thon

It seems like every time I commit to doing a read-a-thon something happens, and I don't get to read.  But I'm going to try once more!  Dewey's Read-a-Thon is set to start this Saturday, and I'll be participating.

Summer Reading List Starting Line and Two Read-a-Thons I'm Joining!

Ok tomorrow summer vacation officially starts for me.  I've compiled my summer reading list.  It has a grand total of 37 books on it NOT counting the ones on my Nook.  This is a big leap forward considering last summer I only read 25.  Last summer tho, I feel I slacked in the reading department, so I think I should be able to do this! Below is a pic of my summer reads.

Catching Up Readathon Final Post

Out With a Bang Read-a-thon

So I did sign up for this read-a-thon knowing I wanted to end the year with some great books.  It starts today and goes through the 31st.

Ok Fine I'll Join the Read-a-Thon

After reading everyone else's posts about the Dusk til Dawn Read-a-Thon and wanting to get up to 25 books read this summer I've decided to join! This is a read-a-thon being hosted by Book Crazy.   I'm a bit nervous because the last two times I joined one I first got a migraine and then I got sick! Hoping 3rd times a charm :)

Setting my bar a lot lower this time.  Looking at reading 18 hours from today (yes it starts today!) through 8 a.m. on the 29th.  And actually the number of books read is more important to me than hours. 

I want to read 4 books.

I was very excited to see this read-a-thon.  It's just what I need to finish up my summer and boost my reading minutes.  The read-a-thon starts at 9 a.m. on Friday the 13th (eek!) and ends 9 a.m. on Monday the 16th.  I'm going big and hoping to read 45 hours! Fingers crossed there :)

My very sad Read-a-Thon update

I was sidelined with a headache! BUT a nap has cured it, and I'm back on.  I'm reading the book The Doom Machine.  Very cute middle grade book!  I've put the summary from Goodreads below.

Read-a-Thon Kick-Off

Ok I'm actually getting read to start! First a few things about my reading.  I guess you kick off with this info :)

Where Are You Reading From? I'm reading from Minnesota on the comfort of my couch or love seat - depending on which one isn't in use by someone else today :)  As it moves into night I know for sure I'll be on the loveseat because it's much more comfortable!

3 Facts About Me

I'm a 7th grade English teacher
I have 3 kids (that will be surrounding me as I read!)
I'm 65,000 words into writing my first novel!

How many books in my TBR Pile - honestly IDK.  I listed about 7 that I'd like to read but I many deviate from them

Goal: Two of them.  I have to read The Cinderella Society for a blog tour and i want to read 8 hours total.

Any advice - nope never done it before! :)

I'm Doin' the Read-a-Thon!!

Ok so it's a last minute entry BUT I've decided to do the Dewey Read-a-Thon. I'll be up anyways because my daughter is having a birthday party sleepover.  I might has well read :)  Right now I plan on getting 8 hours of reading in.  I know it's not a ton, but it's the best I can do this time around.

Read-a-Thon

I pledged to read 6 hours, and I read 7!!!!  This suprised me! And that was with a headache and going shopping all day Saturday.  Very pleased with myself.

Quick Read-a-Thon Update

Just a real quick update.  I have read 5 out of the 6 hours I pledged! Since I'm new to these things I believe I GREATLY under-estimated how much time I could devote to reading.  The only issue I am having is a little book ADD.  I've started two books that I didn't finish.  Not that they were bad - they just weren't what I was in the mood for.  I am now reading Generation Dead by Daniel Waters.  It's more what I needed - not sooooo serious! If anyone has any suggestions for some FUN or SILLY books I'd love to hear them!

I Read Into the New Year!

Happy New Year all!!!! Just a quick update but wanted to let you all know how I'm doing with the New Year Read-a-Thon. 

I did read as the new year was brought it.  I was reading The Sky Always Hears Me: And the Hills Don't Mind by Kirstin Cronn-Mills.  Awesome book so far.  I had just finished Intertwined, so I was just at the beginning of it. 

Also I've not done 2.5 hours out of my 6 for the read-a-thon.  Way  more than I thought since I wasn't feeling well earlier.  Didn't know if I'd feel ok to be awake and reading but I was!
