I love sharing what my 7th graders are reading because I find it fun to see what actual teens (tweens) are reading - not just what I think they should be reading.
They all have been reading The Outsiders since I've assigned it, but here's what else:
Tucket's Travels
Conspiracy 365 February
Beastly
The Vampire's Assistant (he's loving it!)
Confetti Girl
Just Listen
The Melting of Maggie Bean
Matched
The Devouring
Cosmic
The Red Pyramid
Among the Hidden
Catching Fire
Cryer's Cross
Gregor the Overlander
Battle Dress
Bleach
Gym Candy
Desires of the Dead
Vladimer Tod
What of these have you read???
wow! I consider myself fairly well read in the YA genre, but I have only read two books on this list! Catching Fire and Matched. I better get reading!
ReplyDeleteI've read six, assuming that Just Listen is written by Sarah Dessen. :)
ReplyDeleteOOh, I love seeing what my students are reading. This week, I even did a "Teen Review Week" on my blog so they could talk about the books they just read. And all of my kids joined GoodReads, which is so cool! They're really enjoying that.
ReplyDeleteYour students are reading some great books! :)
I love that you do this. It is interesting to see the majority are reading YA instead of MG.
ReplyDeleteEven tho they are "middle" schoolers they pretty much read YA. Well the girls. The boys read mostly what would be MG.
ReplyDeleteI've only read Just Listen and Matched (which were both amazing!), and I've been considering reading Beastly and Among the Hidden. I also really want to read The Outsiders, but I just never get around to it! It makes me wish that one of my teachers will assign it. (I love reading assigned books because they're usually ones that I want to read but don't. Shhh!)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love Cryer's Cross for this age level! It's short and scary, but not too traumatizing!
