Sunday Shelves May 23

I am weirdly facinated by other people's bookshelves and why they arrange them how they do. I took this and created a weekly feature, Sunday Shelves. In this feature I highlight the bookshelves of different bloggers and readers.

This Week I'm Featuring:

Misty over at The Book Rat has been posting pictures of her different colored shelves. She groups books of the same color together. The result is pretty cool! I asked her if I could share these posts, and she agreed!

Here are her shelves.  Click on the color for each shelf to be taken to her post about it.

Her Purple Shelf

The Red Shelf

The Green Shelf

The Orange Shelf

The Yellow Shelf

Now isn't that a cool way to arrange your shelves?!?! Love it!

  2. I've never thought of organizing my books by color. I don't know if my visual memory is this good. Cool idea, though!

  4. (hee hee)

I used to categorize by genre (alphabetical therein) but I quickly gave up. There wasn't enough wiggle room and I had to redo them too often, and they would get put wherever there was a convenient space and I would end up looking for them by what the spine looked like. I noticed I always ended up looking for them based on the look, and there are so many that they were bound to look messy, so I might as well make it a purposeful messy, so I just went for it.

  5. What a great feature! I just LOVE seeing how other people organize their books.

I love the color system - it's SO pretty - but I could never do that. While I don't mind books by a same author being separated, I couldn't live with books of the same series on different shelves. Also, I love to have book of similar heights hanging together!
