Tween Tuesday - The Sister's Grimm Series

Tween Tuesday was started over at Green Bean Teen Queen as away to hightlight awesome books for the 9-12 year old set. AKA Tweens.

Before I get started I just wanted to share or remind everyone of the In the Middle - MG reading challenge I'm hosting.  The sign-up post can be found here.  Two options for buttons can be found here. If you've been wanting to broaden your reading and read more MG, the challenge just might help with that!

Ok this week I'm highlighting The Sister's Grimm Series by Michael Buckley.  This is a great middle grade series that puts a fun spin on the fairytale.

The Fairy-Tale Dectective is the first book.
From Goodreads:

For Sabrina and Daphne Grimm, life has not been a fairy tale. After the mysterious disappearance of their parents, the sisters are sent to live with their grandmother - a woman they believed was dead! Granny Relda reveals that the girls have two famous ancestors, the Brothers Grimm, whose classic book of fairy tales is actually a collection of case files of magical mischief. Now the girls must take on the family responsibility of being fairy tale detectives.  The girls are the latest in a long line of fairy-tale detectives, and their new hometown is filled with Everafters (as magical folks like to be called)—some good and some very, very bad. When a mysterious Everafter sets a giant loose on the town, it’s up to the Sisters Grimm to save the day.

I personally haven't read the series, but I've heard great things from my girls who have read them.  What I really like is that there are several in the series - 6 with a 7th one out in March.  Once I can get a girl hooked on the first book, they've got several more to keep them reading.  I always love that!  Oh - I realize I keep saying "her/she", but it has been only girls that have read this series.

I'm thinking that the next book I read will be the first book in the series.  I've got to make sure I make my challenge as well!

  2. This series is awesome! I would have as much as the series as you can ready to read at once - they end on cliff hangers.
